Water Analyzer
Technical design, engineering, and prototype development

Background
In this project in the field of laboratory and analytical equipment , a water technology provider planned to launch a novel sensor system onto the market.
The measurement method had already proven effective in laboratory settings and was intended to be operated unattended outdoors for months at a time, for example at wastewater treatment basins or in watercourses.
Challenge
The existing laboratory prototype had to be converted into a robust, industry-ready system.
Milestones
-
Development of a complete system centered on the sensor
-
Ensuring robustness and long-term reliability in outdoor use
-
Preparation for mass production and industrialization
Our contribution
RAKKOON was responsible for designing the sensor handling system, the housing architecture, developing it to production readiness, and accompanying the transition to production.
RAKKOON developed the system architecture and the overall device concept.
Key areas
-
System design for operation and maintenance scenarios
-
Thermal management and condensation control
-
Development of an ergonomic sensor replacement system
-
Product development in the context of Design for Manufacturing (DfM)
-
Supplier selection and management

A double-walled sheet metal housing, combined with a thermally insulating rigid foam enclosure, reliably protects the temperature-controlled sensor from environmental conditions.
Result

A successful technology transfer from the laboratory to practical application. Mass production was prepared in collaboration with suitable suppliers and subsequently taken over by the client.
The system operates reliably around the clock in unattended mode. Thanks to its maintenance-optimized design, the duration of service visits has been reduced to about ten minutes.
